Neuromuscular therapy is a system of massage techniques that were developed in the 1930's by Dr. Stanley Lief in England. It uses a holistic approach towards healing, emphasizing and stimulating the body's natural ability to heal itself.  Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) involves the following principles:

  1. Structural Balancing and symmetry. When the body is asymmetrical then the muscular system must become part of the support (skeletal) system to keep it balanced in gravity. Muscles move bones, and through the soft tissue, the skeletal system can be re-aligned without being forced into place. The body's dynamic geometry is always trying to achieve balance. It creates many different tension patterns when in trauma.
  2. Nerve Entrapment. Caused by hypertonic (tense) muscle or bones or discs impinging upon a nerve or nerve bundle. This causes more pain or tension anywhere along the neural pathway.
  3. Inflammation. Best treated through the nervous system by acupressure. Often a result of overuse or acute trauma.
  4. Proprioceptic Neuromuscular Facilitation. ( PNF ) stretching the ligaments and tendons to relax a specific area or group, while re-educating the neural pathways so the pain pattern does not recur.
  5. Active release techniques. Involving participation of the client to release muscle/tendon that is stubborn.
  6. Adhesions. Connective tissue can be extremely restrictive, “ grabbing ” large areas and throwing the skeletal symmetry out of alignment.
  7. Arthritis, of many forms. Joint limitations.

Deep Tissue Massage Back to Top

$170/2 hours. $255/3 hours. $130 for single 90 min treatment.

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Spinal Alignment Back to Top

$85 per HR

$170/2 hours. $255/3 hours. $130 for single 90 min treatment.

Spinal Alignment is a technique similier to Rolfing. These modalities are a scientifically validated system of restructuring the human body. They release the body from life-long patterns of tension, and allow gravity to naturally realign your movements for optimum health and well-being. These deep and somewhat painful therapies are highly effective for improving posture, reducing or eliminating chronic pain, and releasing long-term emotional and mental stress.  I'd like to note that I am not a licensed Rolfer, however with the ten years in the Medical Massage profession, my skills have been said to be very similier to the rolfing modality. And my research validated that as well too, but you can be the judge. Either way, this is a HIGHLY effective modality and does wonders for the body.

Myofascial Release Back to Top

$170/2 hours. $255/3 hours. $130 for single 90 min treatment.

Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain.

Sports Massage Back to Top

Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term.

Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates.

Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body's natural immune function.

Acupressure Back to Top

$170/2 hours. $255/3 hours. $130 for single 90 min treatment.

Acupressure is based on one the most ancient principles of healing - that simply touching a specific point on the body will release stress and improve health in the body. In an acupressure session, I apply firm pressure directly to these "points" on your body, which relieves your muscle tension and improves your circulation. This simple and powerful technique has been shown to very effective in treating headaches, backaches, and even insomnia.

In acupuncture / acupressure theory, the philosophy of emotions is as follows:

Too much anger weakens the Liver
Too much fear weakens the Kidneys
Too much sadness weakens the Lungs
Too much thinking/worrying weakens the Spleen/Stomach
Too much anxiety weakens the Heart

So, balance is always the goal.

Movement Education Back to Top

Movement education uses a custom-tailored approach to improving your body awareness and movement skills. Combining problem-solving, guided-discovery, and exploratory methods, this practice inevitably leads to a stronger connection between the mind and body, creating a more natural and graceful experience of movement and interaction with other people. This form of information is integrated in every session I do, however I do go further into detail with the bases of Kinesiology (muscle testing) and "I CHING" when requested.
